Design Process

What my design process course is all about: This is an in detail account of what I have   studied and researched over the past  three weeks . It contains all the  information, research, ideas and  sketches used by me during this course. Our brief was to take up an existing  problem in and try to solve it using the  method taught to us by our faculty. As I simplified it to a smaller scale I  landed on an everyday problem faced by  my peers. The discomfort faced by  students who work at the foundation  studio, the driving factor as to why people  do not work in the studio as much and the  clustered design of the studio making it  seem small and suffocating. All together it  was the space design of the foundation  studio and the facilities provided there. Pride flag

Pride Flag I have created a composition using only curvy lines, ie: there are no straight lines in this composition. This composition I have filled out in 6 differen ways. Using shades, tints and tones of  violet, blue, green, yellow and orange I have used the composition to replicate my own pride flag.  Keeping each composition the same, I wanted to show that we are essentially the same although we are different (shown by the varying colour).  For better viewing of the composition I have attached a larger image below.

Live Paint Bucket

Concept Illustration. This illustration was made on the concept that old technology is slowly being washed away. The sea is rough and is climbing rocks where our current technology stands today. Ever so often, the waves reach the top, wash away what is there and bring in something new. Mirroring innovation in today's world. This is the finished product. The above image is one of my rough sketches. Below i have used the live paint bucket tool to fill in colour and give life to my sketch. Although fills in faster the tool does remove all difference in opacity and other small details you may have given. this however can be added later on.

Tracing

Tracing and Forming Outlines. Using this image as my refferance image I have tried to take the focus points and make a composition. Using that composition I have placed it in different backgrounds varying colour to view how it interacts with various other colours. I used a holographic background as I felt it provides a wide array of colours. I have also adjusted the exposure and tried to match those colours. In this composition I have used a higher exposure of colours on the opposite side of the area that shows high exposure and a pastel colour on the opposite side where the pastels are present. I have done this to show contrast.

Digital Illustrations

Brush Strokes & the Pen Tool For these digital explorations I have predominantly used the brush and pen tool. Using different kinds of brush strokes and overlapping styles i have come up for a background in my first illustration. This however, is just me playing around with backgrounds. All brush types and largely from the grunge palette. I have tried to come up with a more sophisticated look that looks more visually appealing to myself. This being my first draft. This being my final drawing I have changed the colour scheme of the face and neck, along with the shape of the glasses and given a 3D effect. This is my final piece. I have also tried to make the background move to give it a very trippy vibe.

Isometry

Products in Isometry Isometry drawing is a way of presenting drawings in 3 dimention. Using this concept we had to draw an object on illustrator after making our own isometry grid. I have made a boombox with a tape in isometry. The background i have given a light blue as it contrasts well with the dark colour themes of the boombox.

Poster Designing for "La Strada"

Movie Posters "La Strada" is a 1950 Italian Oscar winning movie directed by Federico Fellini. The movie revolves around an innocent girl named Gelsomnia who is sold to harsh and cruel Zampano. The movie tells us about their journey together and the difficulties faced.  A major element in the movie is the fact it is a black and white film. Because of this i have only used black, white and greys to make my poster. another key element that stood out was the involvement of the circus in the movie. The stripes used for the background resemble one of Gelsomnias that she wears while performing and the font used gives very playful yet serious feel- like the movie. For this movie, as merchandise I have drawn up a few stickers. This movie is originally in black and white. As exploration I have explored what this movie would look in colour by studying black and white values and what colour looks like when made into colour. Making one frame of the mo...

Character Drawing On Illustrator

Using Illustrator I have drawn out a character. My character is  inspired from everyday women in Indo- western wear. I approached this assignment with a more comical style in mind but at the same time giving slight depth but adding shadow where I deemed necessary.
